A 21-year-old salesgirl, Linda Akindolani, has been dragged before an Ondo Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a cash sum of N1,108,120, property of one Adeagbo Adebowale without his consent.
The defendant was brought before Magistrate Charity Adeyanju, on a one-count charge of stealing.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on January 3, 2023, at about 10 am at plot C, Road 2, Holy Trinity Ondo, in the Ondo state Magisterial District.
The offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The prosecutor, inspector Benard Olagbayi, told the court that he would call two witnesses to testify in the case while applying for a date to enable him to study the case file.
Lawyer for the defendant, Mr Tosin Okesola did not oppose the prosecutor’s application, but he applied for his bail in most liberal terms.
In his ruling, Adeyanju granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties each in like sum.
Adeyanju, therefore, adjourned the case till March 3, 2023, for hearing.
