Sales girl held for stealing goods worth N1 million

A 22-years-old sales girl, Ekuyik-Ebitu Warri has been dragged before an Akure Magistrate Court for stealing goods worth one million naira.
The defendant was dragged before Chief Magistrate Charity Adeyanju on one count charge of stealing.
Ekuyik-Ebitu Warri, was said to have stolen the sum of 1,034,400 property of Golden Tripod International Limited where she works as a sale girl.
The defendant who was said to have committed the offence on October 22, 2019 at about 10:00am at New Station Road Akure pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck informed the court that he intend calling four witnesses of which only one is in court.
He however applied for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble all his witnesses.
The counsel to the defendant, Joseph Arinju, did not object the application but prayed the court to grant the defendant bail on a very liberal terms.
Joseph submitted that the defendant would not abuse bail if granted and is ready to provide credible sureties.
The Chief Magistrate, Charity Adeyanju granted the defendant bail in sum of 1.5 million Naira and one surety in like sum.
Adeyanju ordered that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction and must provide evidence of tax payment for this current year.
He adjourned the case to January 15, 2020 for hearing.
