A 25-year-old man, Sunday Olorunfemi, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court, for defrauding his boss of the sum of N380,000 and forging a bank receipt.
Olorunfemi, whose address was not given, is facing a three-count bordering on fraud, forgery, and threat to life.
Police prosecutor, Simon Wada told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 25, 2023, at about 1 pm, at NTA road, Oba-Ile, Akure.
Wada said the defendant converted the sum of N380,000, given to him by the complainant, one Olamide Oladapo, meant to be transferred to one of his customers, to his personal use.
” The defendant having known that the money was not transferred to the said customer, forged a First Bank Plc transfer receipt and sent it to the complainant,” he said.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant on July 5, 2023, at about 4 pm at the aforementioned place threatened to kill the complainant with the intent to intimidate him from demanding his money.
According to Wada, the offences contravened Sections 383, 390(3), 467, and 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
He prayed for an adjournment to enable him gather his witnesses
Lawyer to the defendant, T. Sunday, urged the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till December 14, 2023, for a hearing.
