Save us from criminal attacks, community cries to FG

Ajowa community in Akoko Northwest Local Government area of Ondo state and a border town, has cried to the Federal Government to save them from incessant attacks by criminal elements.

The people who spoke through their spokesman, Mr Jacob Adegoke, at a town hall meeting in Ajowa lamented the bitter experience of the residents in the last two years  in the hands of the criminals, herdsmen inclusive,  which subjected them to killings, maiming, raping and kidnapping  by the criminals.

Adegoke urged government to consider the geographical location, being  the last border town in the south west, sharing border  with the north, which, according to him,  has made Ajowa vulnerable to numerous attacks which resulted in the killing of four people, while many were kidnapped with heavy ransom paid.

He called for the establishment of a military post in the area to help control the insecurity and other criminal as activities facing the people.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Ajowa Community and a retired  Anglican Bishop , Rt Revd Ezekiel  Dahunsi, has commended  Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s efforts on security matters in the state,  particularly the funding of Amotekun Corp.

Revd Dahunsi however called on the federal government to reconsider its stand and give the state government the legal backing to procure arms for the security outfit (Amotekun) if it (federal government) is serious about fighting insecurity in the country.

The bishop disclosed that the community is not relenting in its  efforts on spiritual aspect as inter denominational prayers are always organized while local vigilante groups are being paid by sons and daughters of the community to compliment regular security agents.

The Oloso of Oso,  Ajowa Akoko and the current chairman of Ajowa Oba-In Council,  Oba jimoh Clement Omoola,  who spent days in kidnappers den said he was not ready to share his bitter experience in captivity with anybody but thanked the state government, his colleague traditional rulers and the entire  Ajowa community.

The Oloso however, called for the establishment of a Divisional Police Headquarters in Ajowa.
