A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Garba, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing and breach of peace.
Garba, a resident of Omisanjana Ado-Ekiti, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, the defendant committed the offence on January 20, at Ayoko Street, opposite Afe Babalola University Multi System Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that Garba stole roofing zinc sheets, property of Surajudeen Nursery and Primary School.
Leramo added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace in the society.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 295(1) and 181(D) of the Criminal Law of EKiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, while his Counsel, Mr Adeyinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant him bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till February 23 for hearing.
