Osun State Government has reiterated that its scheduled date of September 21 for the reopening of schools across the state remains unchanged.
This followed insinuations in certain quarters that the earlier scheduled resumption date had been reviewed.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the government said all schools in the State will resume on September 21 for an abridged third term of the 2019/2020 academic session, as earlier announced.
The statement read in part: “We have observed the rumours making the rounds that the resumption of students across the State that was scheduled for September 21, has been suspended by the government.
“This is totally untrue. We enjoin parents, students and other stakeholders to discountenance the rumour.
“Schools across the State will reopen on the set date as earlier announced, and the calendar, which was designed through a rigorous technical process, takes effect from September 21.
“The State Government seizes this opportunity to assure parents, students and teachers that everything that is necessary to make our schools safe and comfortable has been put in place.
“We look forward to life gradually returning to the new normal in the state even as government continues to fine tune its protocols to keep our state safe “, the statement read.
