Science and technology, magic wand Nigerian need –Agagu

If Science and Technology is given priority in schools in any state, the economy of such state will be buoyant .

Making this assertion was the Ondo state  Commissioner for Education, Mr Femi Agagu while  monitoring the resumption of students in Akure.

The Commissioner who  spoke through the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Rev Akin Asaniyan stated that the magic wand  to achieve  success in the sector is to accelerate  the teaching science and technology in the schools.

According to him:” The magic wand is Science and Technology, we have traced it historically that if you accelerate your science and technology, your economy will step up and it would be balanced, look at India,Japan and China and so we are trying to leverage on what has happen in the past and use science and technology to boost the economy of the state”

The commissioner who was happy with the turn  out of students and teachers in schools across the state said the level of preparation in school is remarkable.

He said: ” the level of preparation for resumption in our schools is remarkable, not like in the past where everywhere will be weedy but now everywhere is clean and in almost everywhere we went to ,academic is commencing as the Principal test will start immediately “.

While admonishing the teachers to keep up the spirit of diligence as they do not know what the children can become in future.

Speaking on the C principles of life that will help them to achieve success to include, Calmness, Consistency, Considerate, and Committed, he said they must be calm as all student cannot be the same, be consistent as anyone who is not cannot do well,be considerate by having compassion on the student and also be committed as only a committed that can never be tired despite all odd.

” Be diligent and make yourself happy doing the job, teach the children with joy as teaching could be laborious and dissipating” he said.

He also called on the students to be focused and shun all vices, saying that the greatest  problem in the country is that its students do not know what to become earlier so as to pursue it earlier in life” right from primary school, you should know what you want to become”.

In an interview also, the principal of Comprehensive High School, Ilara mokin, Akinwunmi  Emmanuel said he was elated that the officials of the ministry came to visit the school,adding that the visit will spur both the teachers and the student to want to do what is right.

He therefore  appreciated the permanent secretary who gave cash gifts to some students who came early to school before others and called on the teachers  to be alive to their responsibilities so that the effect will be seen on any examination taken in the school.

Also, the principal of  Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure,Chief Stephen Ojo said  the student came out in large numbers because they know that the school authority does not joke with the first day of resumption as the Principal test will come up immediately.

Anslem Christian, a student of Oyemekun who is also a final year student said he has been preparing and studying hard to come out with good grades,and also called on other students to also take their study serious and eschew all vices.

Schools monitored are, Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, The Apostolic Primary School, Ilara mokin, Community Comprehensive High School,Ilara mokin, St Andrew’s Anglican Pry. School,Ilara mokin,The Apostolic High school Ilara mokin among others.
