A potential tragedy was averted on Thursday, when a truck loaded with pipes, reversed uncontrollably, damaging motorcycles and shops along the busy Old Benin Road in Ore.

The unmarked vehicle, attempting to navigate a bend, reversed colliding with structures and motorcycles parked along the roadside.

The incident led to hours of gridlock as motorists were stranded on the major route. Security personnel were promptly deployed to manage the traffic situation and restore order.

Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted that the accident occurred around 9:35 a.m.

Weekend Hope observed that passersby expressed relief and gratitude that no life was lost during the incident.

One of the residents said, “We are just grateful that no life was lost in the process, because motorcyclists do stay at that spot.”
