Scrap seller, others docked over serial burglary, theft

A scrap seller, Abubakar Oseni and two other men have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court, for alleged house breaking and stealing.
The Ondo State Amotekun Corps charged Oseni and other two defendants; Peter Joseph and Tunde Ojomolade with conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
State Counsel, O.F. Akeredolu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 17, at different times in Oke-Ijebu area of Akure.
He alleged that about 4:00am the defendants, conspired and broke into a building where they stole one spraying machine and vehicle alternators including other items valued at N449,000, belonging to one Sola Sunday.
Akeredolu alleged that the defendants also stole iron rod valued at N2400, at Isolo area.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 516, 413, 390 (9) and 413 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their counsel, Femi Adetoye, prayed the court to grant them bail.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until September 11, 2023, for hearing.
