Screening: Senators applaud Alasoadura’s candidature

Showers of tributes poured on Ondo State Ministerial nominee, Senator Tayo Alasoadura yesterday as he stood on the Senate podium for screening.

One after the other, Senators described him as a worthy candidate for a ministerial appointment.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was present at the Senate Chamber to solidarise with the Senator representing Akure Central Senatorial District.

In his view, the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, recalled the immense contributions of the nominee to the PIB which helped to break the bill into four.

Lawal was reacting to a suggestion from the nominee that a revisit and eventual passage of the PIB bill would result in the earning of more funds from the nation’s resources.

He also called on the Senate to revisit the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Bill of which public hearing had been concluded.

He regretted that lack of synergy between the senate and the executive arm frustrated efforts to make the bill come into fruition.

Lawan hoped that the appointment of Alasoadura and some members of the seventh and eight national assemblies into the federal executive would smoothen the easy passage of the PIB bill.

Also showering encomiums on Alasoadura, the Senate Majority Leader, Abdullai Yahaya. He described him as a committed and passionate senator whose contributions to the passage of the PIB marked him out as a patriot.

He observed that his chairmanship of upstream sector of the petroleum industry would help the executive arm of the government to assent the PIB bill.

Earlier, the senate minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe described the nominee as a hardworking and meticulous senator.

Abarribe enjoined the ministerial nominee to be a worthy ambassador of the National Assembly by ensuring that he “represents and protects the interest of the senator.

When the questions for Alasoadura to take a bow was put the senate, it was a massive and thunderous ayes.”
