A 45-year-old security guard, Isiaka Gbadamosi, was on Monday arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of foodstuffs worth N1.2million .
The accused, allegedly committed the offence between January 29 and 30, 2019, at place opposite Ilesa garage, Osogbo.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Bose Soyemi told the court that the accused stole 46 bags of rice valued at N713,000, 26 kegs of vegetable oil valued at N299,000 and a bag of salt and cartons of maggie valued at N200,000, total valued at N1,212,000, property of one Ezekiel Adewoye.
Soyemi said the offence contravened section 516 and 413 and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol 11 Laws of Osun State, 2002.
The accused person, who is facing four count-charge bothering on house breaking and stealing pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against him.
Counsel to the accused person, Bose Dada urged the court to grant her client bail in most liberal term, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Aishat Oloyede granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the matter to March 14, 2019 for hearing.
