In order to revolutionize food production, Ondo state government has been urged to intensify efforts on farm security, rural road network and provision of highly subsidized inputs.
The Chairman, Ondo state Agricultural Commodities Association OSACA , Mr Gbenga Obaweya made the call in an interview with The Hope yesterday.
Obaweya who appreciated the state government for the presentation of the fuel subsidy palliative pleaded that more agrochemical inputs be purchased to meet the needed requirement of the farmers.
He noted that the quantity presented were grossly inadequate but that they were able to distribute to majority of the farmers ensuring tho each farmer gets at least some of the chemicals distributed.
While expressing his views on good road, Obaweya expressed dissatisfaction that the Tricycles purchased were not presented to the farmers.
He advised government to provide an additional purchase for distribution at various constituencies rather than using what were purchased for a category of farmers earlier identified.
“There should be separate purchase that will be made for them to be able to distribute to those they were able to be identified as farmers within their constituencies.
“Our desire is that the little that they bought should be distributed to clusters where it will make a lot of difference,” he stated.
“Our own opinion from the beginning is that it should be given out at 50% subsidized prices which will make significant difference to every farmer,” he noted. o promote peaceful
