Forty -two persons whose presence had caused security scare in Ondo state have been sent back to their respective states by the State Security Corps, Amotekun
Their redeployment followed public outcry at Okitipupa last week Thursday when they arrived the agrarian community.
Information reaching The Hope revealed that the evictees were brought to the town for security training.
The Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects confirmed that the men claimed to have come for a security training at a private firm.
According to him, explanation provided by the men and women were not satisfactory to the state government, hence the decision to return them to their states of origin.
His words: ” In the last three days, there have been issues relating to the invasion of the state by some men. Our intelligence showed that they were in Okitipupa Local Government. We monitored and found out that they converged in front of the Army barracks in Okitipupa.
“We profiled them and found out that they were primarily from the two states., Kano and Jigawa. The mission they claimed they came for was not too clear and majority of them didn’t know how they got here.
“But from detailed investigation, we were able to narrow it down to their sponsors. They claimed to belong to one NGO and that they contracted the training to a consultant who was supposed to train them as security guards. Right now, we see them as security risks to the state and have thus returned them to their states.”
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Donald Ojogo who was at the briefing said the action of government was meant to ensure that they return safely to their bases.
“This was one of the key points that were achieved in the last 72 hours. It was a very friendly situation, if not some of these people would have been molested.
The Commissioner noted that officials of government should make sure they send any security related matter to Amotekun office in their localities or other security agencies.
According to him, government would continue to ensure that people whose mission is not clear were not allowed to stay in the state.
