Septuagenarian, 4 others bag five years over attempt to kill Monarch

A septuagenarian and four other persons have been sentenced to five years imprisonment by an Iwo Magistrate’s Court for threatening to kill a monarch, Oba Kazeem Adio, the Onigege of Igege.
The five convicts are; Oyelayo Adio, 70, Tajudeen Yusuf, 55, Ambali Salau, 52, , Waliu Ishola, 40 and Kasali Nurudeen 30.
In his judgment, Magistrate Ishola Omisade, held that the prosecutor had proved the case beyond every reasonable doubt.
He, consequently sentenced the convicts to a year imprisonment on each count, which is to run concurrently.
The convicts were arraigned on five counts charge bordering on malicious damages, conspiracy to assault, forceful entry, threat to life and damaging property.
Earlier, the prosecutor from the State Ministry of Justice, Mr Moses Faremi, told the court that the convicts committed the offences between March 12 and 13, 2017 around 11:00am at Igege town via Iwo Magisterial District.
He said the convicts and others still at large conspired among themselves to intimidate, annoy and threatened with cutlasses and sticks to kill Oba Kazeem Adio, the Onigege of Igege.
During the trial, the prosecution called six witnesses and tendered 15 exhibits.
The offence committed contravened Sections 82, 86, 451(6)(I), 516, 451(6)(I) of Criminal Code CAP.34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun State 2002.
