Septuagenarian slumps, dies in Ondo Court

There was pandemonium in an Ondo State High Court sitting in Oka, Ondo, when a yet-to-be identified man, reportedly slumped and died in the courtroom .

The deceased said to be in his late 70s, had reportedly slumped and died in the open court, prior to sitting at the  High Court

The Hope Metro gathered that the man was in the court with his friend to stand as a witness in a case and the audience were awaiting the entrance of the judge, when the incident happened.

He was reported to have slumped and immediately gave up the ghost.

A staff of the court who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, for fear of being quizzed by the police, noted that the man who appeared healthy just slumped without collision with anything and died immediately.

“The man was in court with his friend. And suddenly, he stood up where he was seated and fell down, hitting his head on the tiles and he passed on.

“He didn’t look like someone who was sick and he did not collide with anything or anybody that we may say is the cause of his death, “he said.

Another source within the court, who identified himself as Tunde Ariyo, noted that the court clerk and some litigants in the court made efforts to get ambulance and the police at  Enu-Owa police division to remove the remains of the man to the mortuary.

Contacted, the police at Enu-Owa Police Division confirmed the incident and said the case would be transferred to the command’s headquarters in Akure immediately.
