A 26-year-old serial thief, Alloy Wisdom, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment by an Ondo Chief Magistrate Court, for stealing items worth N6,931,890.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Charity Adeyanju, convicted and sentenced Wisdom to six years imprisonment without an option of fine, due to the magnitude of the offence.
Prior to his conviction, the police had arraigned the convict for committing the offence between 2020 to June 17 2022 within Ondo City and its environs in Ondo West Magisterial District.
Wisdom was alleged of criminal and unlawful conspiracy with others at large to burgle and steal, by using an iron bar and sizzle to break into shops during any operations.
The police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, told the court that the convict stole items worth N6,931,890, belonging to the five complainants without their consent.
The offences contravene Sections 516 and 413(1)(2) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded guilty.
Following the guilty plea, the defendant who was not legally represented in court, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing him and promised not to involve himself in any criminal act again.
