Seven arraigned in Ore for alleged breach of peace

Seven men have been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State over allegations of misconduct and breach of public peace.
The defendants, Abiodun Rufus (25), Douglas Sunday, Ossai Azubike (21), Samuel Pius (37), Adepoju Emmanuel (18), Akinwande Sunday (29), and Alarape Ridwan (20), are facing two counts bordering on conspiracy and unlawful behaviour.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences were committed on May 17, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. in Ore.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Usifoh James, informed the court that the accused persons conspired to disturb the peace of the community, thereby causing public alarm and disorder.
All seven defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The offences contravene Sections 516(a) and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Inspector James requested an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble relevant witnesses.
Defence counsels, Mr V. A. Akinfe, Mr B. D. Adedugba, Mr S. Jemine, and Mr D. I. Eliphus, did not object to the adjournment but appealed for bail on liberal terms for their clients.
Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 23 June 2025 for mention.
