Seven dead, four injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed the lives of at least seven individuals, with four others suffering injuries.

The incident occurred at the NIPCO filling station axis early on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed the unfortunate event in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Okpe, the crash, which took place at approximately 7 a.m., involved a Mack truck, a tanker, and a bus.

The FRSC spokesperson further revealed that a total of 15 people were involved in the accident—13 men and two women. While seven individuals lost their lives, four others sustained various degrees of injury.

Okpe explained that the cause of the accident was the speed and loss of control by the driver of the Mack truck, which subsequently collided with the two other vehicles.

The injured victims were promptly taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital in Ibafo, while the bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Idera morgue in Sagamu.

FRSC Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, extended his condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy.

He also appealed to those whose loved ones may have been traveling on the expressway and had not yet reached their destination to contact the FRSC Ibafo for further information.
