Sex workers downplaying virtues of hard work — OAP Lolo 1

Popular Nigerian on-air personality, Omotunde Adebowale-David, also known as Lolo 1, has expressed concern over the growing trend of individuals openly embracing sex work, saying it undermines the essence of diligence and legitimate enterprise.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Say My Piece podcast, the media personality lamented what she described as a decline in societal values and morality, as more people now appear unbothered about publicly identifying with prostitution.

According to her, the trend sends a wrong signal to the younger generation, especially women, who may begin to see their bodies as tools for transactional gain rather than valuing hard work and ethical living.

She said: “If you can blatantly come out and say you are a sex worker, and that you asked someone for money, got it, bought a car, and now a house, what do you think the average young person looking up to you would think?”

“They [sex workers] are downplaying the value of hard work. They are making it seem like sweating and building something from scratch is outdated. I tell the women around me that your body is not a shop,” she added.

Lolo 1 noted that she might belong to what she called “a slowly dying generation” that still believes in modesty, industry, and values, adding that society seems to have lost its sense of shame.

“If people can now publicly declare prostitution as a legitimate source of income, then perhaps we should all rethink our values,” she concluded.
