Sexagenarian, one other arrested for defiling teenager

The Ekiti State Police Command has  confirmed the arrest of a 65-year-old man, Oluwatoba  Magaji, for allegedly having carnal  knowledge of a teenage girl in Ado-Ekiti,  the state  capital

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Asuquo Amba,  one other person whose name was given as, Alero Mohammed, was also arrested alongside  the suspect in connection with the case.

The police boss said the victim who resides in the same house with Oluwatoba at Irona street, Ado-Ekiti was allegedly forcefully raped severally by the suspects without her consent.

Amba  said as a result of the development, the victim, who is an orphan ran to the residence of the other suspect Alero Mohammed to take refuge. 

He disclosed that Mohammed accommodated the teenage girl, but later became hostile and also had carnal knowledge of the victim severally.

Amba said the the report of the incident was reported to the Criminal Investigation Department ((CID) of the command before they were later arrested.

Responding to questions from newsmen, the suspects unanimously confessed to the crime, the duo who described themselves as victims of circumstances, asked for forgiveness.

But the police boss said the police in the state will continue to do their best, while  he disclosed that the arrest of the suspects was made possible through the efforts of “Operation Puff Adder ” an initiative of the Inspector-General of Police,  Mohammed Adamu.

He reiterated the readiness of the command to continue with diligent, painstaking operations and thorough investigation in the state.
