An Akure Magistrate court has been told the cause of the death of a 47-year-old sex worker, Blessing Eze, who was allegedly killed by her customer on June 22, at Cool Corner Hotel in Ondo.
At the resumed sitting on Monday, the defence counsel, C.O. Falana, told the court that police investigation so far, has revealed that his client, Ebenezer, did not internationally kill the sex worker.
Falana said the deceased died a natural death, as she became unconscious some hours after having sexual intercourse, before she was rushed to the hospital.
Recall The Hope Metro had reported that the defendant, Dele Ebenezer, 31, was earlier arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court over alleged murder of the sex worker.
The Police prosecutor, Augustine Omhenimhen told the court that the accused person allegedly killed Blessing Eze by having sexual intercourse with her which made her unconscious which resulted in her death.
The accused person whose plea was not earlier taken, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The offence contravene Section 316(2) and 319 of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defense counsel, Falana prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal terms.
In his ruling, Magistrate O.R Yakubu admitted the accused person to bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate said one of the sureties must have proof of landed property with Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), and adjourned the case till October 10, 2022 for DPP’s advice.
