Members of the Nigeria Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers, NAPPMED, have been charged to desist from buying and selling of unauthorized and expired medicines in the society, to safeguard the health of the people.
The chairman of the association, Akure South Local Government chapter, Comrade Alao Taiwo Hassan, made this call during the meeting of the association in Akure.
Hassan promised to work hand in hand with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Pharmacists Council Of Nigeria, being the bodies saddled with the responsibility of regulating the affairs of NAPPMED.
He revealed that a committee on Fake and Counterfeit Drugs had been inaugurated to ensure that any member found guilty of such will be dealt with.
He affirmed that NAPPMED is the only recognized and reputable patent medicine association in the whole country which had been in existence since 1952.
He therefore urged members not to allow deceits from any quarter.
