Two siblings, Emmanuel Ajayi, 21 and Isaiah Ajayi, 24 have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti over alleged assault on a police woman in the state.
The defendants, who are residents of Emure-Ekiti in Emure local government of the state are facing two counts charge of conspiracy and assault.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Caleb Leranmo, the defendants who are students of a public secondary school in Emure-Ekiti committed the offence in May 21 at about 10:00 a.m in the community.
He further alleged that the defendants assaulted the police woman, Omowumi Blessing, constable and infringed injuries on her while performing her constitutional duties.
He said the offence contravened section 356 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Leranmo asked the court for a short adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty, while their lawyer, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant bail to his clients in liberal term.
In his ruling, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till June 24 for mention.
