Siblings, one other remanded over PoS theft

An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court has remanded two siblings and one other person over alleged N.4million PoS theft.

The defendants, Adeniyi Adesoye, 27, Sunday Adesoye, 24, and Opelusi Dolapo, 27 were arraigned on seven count-charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, theft and unlawful possession of ATM cards.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Soyemi Bose told the Court that the defendants conspired to steal two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards belonging to two persons between May 23 and August 9, 2022.

He said the defendants on May 23 conspired to defraud one Janet Omotayo by withdrawing N241,000 from her GTB Account NO. 0035640137without her consent.

He said they also withdrew N203,000 from one Wahab Saheed’s GTB Account NO. 0591738437 without his consent.

The offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Sections 516, 428, 215, 422, 383(1), and 422 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations leveled against them.

The defence counsel, Nagite Okobie prayed the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal terms, saying they will not jump bail.

Magistrate, O.A Ayilara in his ruling ordered that the defendants be remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre.

Ayilara asked the defence counsel, Nagite Okobie to approach the court with formal application of their bail.

The case was adjourned till August 24, 2022 for mention.
