Fast-rising gospel singer, Oluwadare Toyin Faith, says her passion for music is driven by a desire to worship God rather than to seek fame or recognition.
Speaking in an interview with Friday Extravaganza, Faith said her journey into gospel music began at the age of 12 when she joined her church choir while in Primary Five.
“My journey in gospel started when I joined the choir in my church at the age of 12, while I was in Primary Five.” I have always loved holding the microphone, singing and dancing,” she said.
Faith explained that she never set out to make gospel music a profession but has continued to sing because it brings her closer to God.
“Pursuing it professionally has never been my goal. I just love singing,” she said.
She said her inspiration comes from her faith in God, which she described as the foundation of her life.
“In so many ways, without faith, I am nothing. Having faith in God and in myself, believing I can do it with God by my side, keeps me going,” she said.
Faith mentioned that gospel artistes such as Mercy Chinwo, Tope Alabi and Emma Oh My God have influenced her music, adding that she draws most of her inspiration from hymns.
She advised aspiring gospel musicians to stay consistent and remain close to God.
“Keep trusting in God, draw close to Him and He will draw close to you. Consistency is the key; with God’s help, you will shine,” she said.
