As the 2019 general elections approach, beneficiaries of the Federal Government Social Investment Programmes (SIP) in Ondo State have vowed to reciprocate President Muhammadu Buhari’s gesture by voting enmasse for his re-election to enable him continue impacting positively on the lives of citizens of the nation.

The over 14,000 beneficiaries made the pledge during the flag-off of the door-to-door campaign by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for the re-election of Buhari/Osinbajo.

Schemes under the SIP in Ondo State include; Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) for primary school pupils and the N-Power Volunteer Corps, that is 500,000 jobs intervention scheme for university graduates.

Also, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), which is essentially a loan scheme to be handled by the Bank of Industry.

They described the schemes as initiatives that had empowered and turned them to employers of labour, rather than depending on their parents for survival or searching for white collar jobs after graduation which used to be the case.

State President of the group, Mr Segun Omoyofunmi commended the Buhari-led administration for initiating the schemes which had greatly improved their condition of living.

He assured that they will not only vote for Buhari, but would preach the gospel of his administration’s excellent performance from door-to-door, so as to canvass massive voters for the reality of his second term in office.

Omoyofunmi further explained that the programmes have made them employers of labour, adding that youths of the country stand to benefit more during the second term of President Buhari in office.

Coordinator, HGSFP in Okitipupa Local Government, Mrs Omolara Ayesan said Buhari had helped repair so many broken homes by empowering the women through the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

“Buhari has done well among the common people. People with children being fed daily under the HGSFP will not only vote for him, but would mobilise our family members to vote for his continuity in office”, she assured.

Also testifying, an N-Power beneficiary, Mr Moses Akinjide said the Federal Government promised to set up the schemes to assist the common man, which had been delivered.

“They promised and fulfilled. I couldn’t pay for my PhD at OAU, but I saved N651,000 from the scheme and paid. I did not collect a dime from anyone, that is what they have done.

“We are not ingrates. He had challenged us by fulfilling that which he promised. It behoves on all of us to reciprocate this noble gesture by voting him to the next level of more democracy dividends”, he said.

Addressing beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Social Intervention Programmes (SIP), Governor Akeredolu advised them to be committed to the re-election of President Buhari as a way of reciprocating his kind gestures which has positively impacted on their lives.

He explained that the government of Buhari was special, and had empowered people to be entrepreneurs and employers under the various schemes, hence, the need for everyone to jointly support taking him to the next level.

In her remarks, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs Bunmi Ademosu commended the beneficiaries for their supports for President Buhari who has proven to be a man of his words by liberating them from poverty to prosperity.

“We reject to be slaves anymore. Under the Buhari-led admnistration, there is freedom, liberty and a call to entrepreneurship. Most of us are now employers of labour through these schemes.

“Let’s move from door-to-door and preach to the people that we are no more slaves. Let them know that our lives have been transformed through these life-changing schemes hence the need for everyone to support Buhari for second term and take Nigeria to the next level of prosperity”, she stated.
