Snippers thrash Akure United 2-1

Snippers Football Club during the week defeated Akure United 2-1 in the opening match of 2019 Federation Cup decided at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
Obina Ojinaka gave Snippers FC the lead in the 17th minute from a beautiful team work before Ayo Timilehin made it two from a beautiful tee up with Caleb in the 65th minute.
Pressured from Akure United in the 70th minute to reduce the deficit was repel by the Snippers back four. Before Saheed finally converted a penalty kick for Akure United 74th minutes.
A penalty appeal against Akure united was waived in the 80th minute by the center referee.
A beautiful efforts from Akure United winger was widely nodded off the net in the 85th minute.
During a post match interview, Snippers FC Coach, Kolejo Ola said the game was a good one for his side, saying it’s one of his team’s best game in recent time.
“I just want to say thank you to the players and the management for given in their best for the game.
It is an excellent football, I can’t say nothing but thank you to everybody that participated in this game”
According to him, “in as much as i don’t want to say much on the officiating, the referee was not just fair to us.
The penalty awarded against us was not a clear cut one, it’s just a give a way stuff, thank God we are able to stand the pressure of the game and come out victorious .
On his part, Akure United Coach, Abiodun Ajayi said his side was just unlucky as they failed to utilise their chances and their opponent punished them for being ineffectual in the front of goal.
The best team took all the points, we have her able to notice where we are lacking, we are going to work on those areas before our next competitive competition..
