A 24-year-old man, Pelumi Folorunsho, was on Thursday arraigned before an Akure Family Magistrate Court, over alleged sexual assault on his 8-year-old stepbrother (name withheld).
The defendant, who resides at No.3a, Odige Street, NEPA area in Akure metropolis, is facing one-count charge of indecent assault.
The police prosecutor, Martins Olowofeso, informed the court that Folorunsho committed the offence at about 3pm on September 16, 2023 at their residence.
Olowofeso told the court that the defendant assaulted his 8-year-old stepbrother and caused him harm.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant was caught by their neighbour while he was sexually molesting the boy through the anus.
“The defendant removed the victim’s trouser and forcefully inserted his manhood into his anus, when their parents were not around,” the prosecutor said.
The charge sheet reads, “That you, Pelumi Folorunsho, ‘m’ on September 16, 2023 at 3 pm at No 3a , Odige, NEPA area of Akure in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did indecently assault an 8-year-old boy, by intentionally penetrating into his anus with your penis, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 3(1) (a) of the VAPPLAW of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2021”.
The prosecutor urged the court to give the defendant punishment pending judgment.
Chief Magistrate F.A. Aduroja, in his ruling, ordered that the defendant should be in police custody, pending judgment.
Aduroja also ordered him to clear bushes around the police station for two weeks, under the supervision of officers.
She adjourned the case till October 5,2023 for judgment.
