The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, (NSCDC) has  arrested a 35-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Peter Nweke, for raping a 15-year-old boy (named withheld), around Willy Bright, Elewa junction, Abusoro, Ijoka road, Akure.

The Corps spokesperson in the state, PSC Daniel Aidamenbor, disclosed this to newsmen in a statement issued on Thursday.

He said the  suspect was apprehended by the collective effort of the community, who observed his strange movement around the victim’s residence  on daily basis.

“Nweke will always lure his victim from school to his house and return the victim to his house of close proximity at about 6.00pm daily.

The neighbors noticed this trend and reported to the landlord.

“On Thursday, July 6, 2023, he was caught in the act of molesting the child, but ran away. On Tuesday,  July 11, 2023, luck ran out on the suspect and he was apprehended by the victim’s uncle and handed over to the command.

The suspect, it was learnt,  has contravened sections 31(1)(2) of the Ondo States Child’s Right Law 2007 and section 3(1)(a)(b)(c) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law 2021.

He will be charged to court accordingly after the conclusion of investigation, the statement said.
