Sokoto: Gunmen abduct worshippers during morning prayers

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly abducted several worshippers from a mosque in Bushe community, Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State.
The assailants stormed the mosque at dawn on Thursday while the congregation was performing the early morning Subhi prayer.
During the attack, about 10 worshippers, including the Imam, were reportedly taken hostage.
Confirming the incident on Friday, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said, “the command in collaboration with other security agencies are working to ensure the immediate release of all the victims.”
Rufai noted that he had verified the attack through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the community.
He assured that the Nigeria Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, were making concerted efforts to secure the release of the abducted worshippers.
