Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed nine terrorists and rescued two hostages who were carrying ransom payments meant for insurgents in the Gagiram and Magumeri areas of Borno State.
The spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Uba Sani, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that the terrorists were neutralised in separate operations.
Sani stated that, aside from the recovery of weapons, several insurgents sustained injuries and fled in disarray.
The statement read, “In continuation of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) conducted a successful fighting patrol in response to credible intelligence on the movement of Boko Haram terrorists around Goni Dunari in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State on 10 October 2025.”
“The terrorists, reportedly travelling in two vehicles and on foot, were observed setting houses ablaze and terrorising locals. Acting swiftly, our troops launched an aggressive patrol to intercept the threat.”
He explained that as the troops advanced, the terrorists attempted to escape towards Damjiyakiri village.
“Vehicle-borne fighters dispersed to an unknown location, while those on foot were pursued over approximately 92 kilometres,” he said.
According to him, after four hours of tactical pursuit, the troops engaged the fleeing terrorists.
“A frontal attack was launched, resulting in the neutralisation of five terrorists. The remainder dispersed in disarray, with some wounded as blood trails were observed at the scene,” he said.
Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle (Reg. No. 06798), five magazines (three empty and two loaded), 31 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one Itel mobile phone and a dagger.
Sani added, “Notably, no casualties or equipment losses were recorded by OPHK troops during the operation.”
In a separate operation, troops on motorcycles engaged Boko Haram fighters along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40, Gajiganna axis near Zundur village.
During the firefight, four terrorists were killed, while others fled into the surrounding bush.
Troops also rescued two hostages, 55-year old Mr Modu Kinnami and 57-year-old Mr Bukar, both from Guzamala, alongside a sack containing ₦750,000.
l Sani said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that Boko Haram fighters had demanded a ransom of ₦2,000,000 and two new Tecno button phones for the release of a captive’s brother.”
Recovered items included a blue pickup vehicle (Reg. No. GUB 327 XA), two new Tecno button phones and a jerrycan containing 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit.
He added that a total sum of ₦4,355,000 was recovered during the operations.
Meanwhile, four soldiers were killed and five others injured on Friday when Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military post in Ngamdu, along the Damaturu–Maiduguri Road in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
l Sani noted that further operations were ongoing to sustain pressure on the terrorists and restrict their movements.
