Son in court over stealing of father’s property

A 25-year-old student, Moses Adekunle has been remanded by an Ore Magistrates’ Court for burglary and stealing goods worth of N273,000.

Moses who claimed to be the child of the complainant, was facing two counts of burglary and stealing.

According to Police Prosecutor, Gbenga Martins, the defendant committed the offences on the July 2, 2022 at about 6.00pm at Omileye Street Ore, Ondo State.

Martins informed the court that the defendant unlawfully broke into the house of one Adekunle Mayowa, his father and stole six window burglaries, 4 inches foam, 50 cartons of tiles, rug and kitchen zincs both in the past and in the present.

The offences committed are contrary to and punishable under Section 412, 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37.Vol.1Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant who has no legal representation, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Martins, therefore, sought an adjournment to study the case file.

In her ruling, Magistrate O.Omofolarin ordered the remand of the defendant at Okitipupa Correctional centre.

She adjourned the case till July 26, 2022, for report of settlement.
