Son sells hunchback mum for N7million

By Sade Adewale, Ondo
|
Residents of Ondo town, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government area of the  State, were on Friday, thrown into confusion, as unknown gunmen reportedly took away a 60-year-old woman, Mrs. Rukayat.

The Hope Metro reliably gathered that the people earlier thought the gunmen were kidnappers until it was revealed that the woman’s son had struck a deal with the hoodlums, to sell his mother whom they thought had a hunchback.

The gunmen were said to have agreed to pay the victim’s son the sum of N7million because he assured them his mother had a natural hunchback and was ready to sell his hunchback mum.

An eyewitness who said the woman was a fish seller, told our correspondent that the woman was not born with a hunchback. But that her back was affected as a result of an injury she sustained when she fell as a child.

He said that the gunmen pretended as if they wanted to buy fish when they suddenly whisked the woman away at her residence at Ayetoro street, Eso, in Ondo.

Unfortunately, the gunmen who were said to have discovered that the victim did not have a natural hunch back after killing the woman, started demanding for their money from her son.

But the victim’s son reportedly told them to bring back his mother alive, before he would refund the money.

It was further gathered that the son’s victim claimed he had used part of the money to buy clothes for his mother before she was taken away, while he also painted their house.

Meanwhile, the son’s whereabouts are yet unknown as at the time of filing this report.

According to police, some people called to inform them that there was a robbery operation along the street. But before getting to the scene of the crime, the woman had been taken away by the gunmen. The police said the investigation is ongoing and nobody has been arrested yet.
