Sotitobire shuns Christmas, New Year meals in prison

The founder of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Oshinle quarters, Akure, Prophet Babatunde Alfa was not in Christmas spirit as he was moody during the recently celebrated Christmas and New Year. The Hope can authoritatively reveal.

Babatunde was remanded at Olokuta Correctional Home on December 23, 2019 over the missing of a one-year-old boy, Gold Eninlaloluwa Kolawole, during a service at his church on November 10, 2019.

He, alongside seven other members of his church were arraigned before an Akure magistrates’ court on Monday December 23, 2019 on charges bordering on child kidnapping and aiding of kidnapping of Gold.

Before he was arraigned in the court, the State Security Service (SSS), had picked him up for interrogation over the issue.

The Hope learnt that since he arrived the Correctional Home, many of his church and family members have continued to troop to the prison to visit him.

Sources close to The Hope disclosed that on Christmas day, the Prophet was throughout in sober mood. He was said to have refused to eat anything.

Every Christmas, the government usually presents cow, bags of rice and others for the inmates to celebrate.

The source hinted that the prophet was not given any special treatment by the Prison officials like isolating him from the other prisoners, but was remanded in the building which housed about 180 inmates.

He said: “He was welcomed by inmates normally and was asked series of questions like what brought him to prison and he explained.

The Hope learnt that Prophet Babatunde was given a ‘standing ovation’ by the inmates for a whole day and was given a little space the following day where he would sleep.

“All eyes were on him and sometime he would shed tears. He was not treated as a Pastor. There is no respect for any pastor in the cell. Even though there are  pastors, policemen and other notable personalities remanded in the cell but the inmates do not accord them such respect that should ordinarily be given such personalities, they see them as one of them and were treated as such, the source added.
