Special public work flagged off in Akoko

Chairman Akoko Northwest Local Government of Ondo State, Elder Ayodele Samson Akande, has received the Implementation Committee of the SPW for Ondo state Northern Senatorial District led by Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla .
Akande who welcomed the committee thanked them for their commitment to the success of the programme.
The council boss disclosed that the Federal government under the Special Public Works programme has employed 774,000 jobless Nigerians and place them under its monthly salary system to help ameliorate poverty level in various communities.
In his address at the occasion, the coordinator of the SPW in the Northern Senatorial District, Evangelist Olumuyiwa Asagunla said non graduates would be major participants while certain percentage is being reserved to persons with disabilities.
Asagunla added that the programme would be supervised by the NDE with the aim of helping the most vulnerable against the ravaging effect of the novel COVID-19 pandemic, including joblessness and hunger among others.
He stated that the local governments usually identify the preferred projects that will be executed during the period.
The coordinator added further that SPW is for those who are genuinely interested in the execution of the identified projects and not for those who are only interested in taking money alone.
The Akala of Ikaram, ,Oba Andrew Momodu, who is the chairman of Council of Traditional Rulers in the council area and who also doubles as the chairman of Implementation Committee of the SPW for the local government implored the beneficiaries to be punctual and hard-working at their duty post.
Similarly, Madam Yinka Tunji Ojo, advised the participants to be diligent, honest in discharging their duty.
