In a bid to spread sports development across Ondo state and ensure the functionality of the zonal offices of the state Sports Council (OSSC), the General Manager of the council, Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde and his management team have embarked on inspection tour of the zonal offices in the Southern Senatorial District.
Omoyele said they embarked on the inspection tour to assess the level of facilities in the zonal offices and to also look at how they can give the facilities a facelift.
He noted that the council did not want to limit sports development in urban areas alone, adding that they wanted to harness the potentials in the rural areas to ensure Ondo State take her right place in Sports development.
He added that they want to give all their zonal offices the needed attention so that they can serve as catchment areas in sports development, particularly Ore Stadium that is under construction.
“We are going to see how we can develop the Government Field in Okitipupa through private partnership.”
According to him, “our target was to spread sports development across the state, that is why we want to engage the rural areas in terms of assessing the number of coaches that will be needed in our zonal offices so that we can deploy some of our coaches there to ensure our catch them young program spread to the rural areas.”
“Without being economical with the truth, some of the facilities at the zonal offices are no more in vogue, majority of them are grounded and to salvage the situation, we have engaged some private sectors with an assurance that they are ready to help us.
“Some of the partners have told us to let them know where we want them to come in, that is why we are going round to enable us come out with strategic paper that we can present to them.”
“All they requested from us was value for whatever they do for us,like hosting their banner at the sports complex, painting some building with their organization’s logo for a period of time.”
He said “the team would visit Northern Senatorial District, to assess what is happening in Owo, Ikare and others in the next couple of days.”
