‘Sports ’ll boost students’ morale’

School managers in Ondo State have been urged to begin to consider allowing students and pupils in the state to engage in sporting activities to boost their morale.
A physical and health specialist, Mr Olorunfemi Aina made the suggestion while speaking with The Hope at the weekend.
Aina who holds a Masters degree in Physiology of Exercise stressed that the students’ morale will drop if they are not allowed to engage in sporting activities.
He said that the secondary schools sports festival has not been held in the last six years in the state, calling on school managers to begin to look inward and think of what can be done to restore such events.
Aina who said that the state government needs to do more in the area of sports, stated that there are no enough coaches in the state.
While enumerating the benefits of engaging in sporting activities to include mental development, discovery of new talents, immunity boost, social gathering, Aina said it also boost the economy of the state as people producing vest and other materials will make money.
He called on sports council to be up and doing in training discovered talents for national sports so that their talents will not die off.
He also called on government to employ more physical and health education teachers into public schools and give them incentives to encourage them.
He also appealed to the state government to resuscitate the secondary schools sports festival for the benefit of both the state and the students.
