Stakeholders promise to support organisers of Obas’ Cup

Stakeholders in sports arena have promised to support African Grassroots Football Development (AGFD) in their efforts to birth a maiden edition of Obas’ Cup in Ondo State.
They affirmed their support to the organisers at a meeting held at the Police Officers Mess in Akure, the state capital which was to intimate the Stakeholders on the preparation ahead of the Traditional Rulers tourney.
The Director of Marketing and Foreign Affairs of the organisation, Mr Samuel Patani said all is now set for the commencement of the U-17 Obas’ Cup competition across the 18 local governments in the state on November 26 this year.
According to him, “we are going to organise a FIFA standard competition that aimed at producing and development of talents from the cradle to stardom.”
He said, the over all winners will go home with cash gifts, adding that there will also be individual Awards; like Best Goalkeeper, Highest goal scorer, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Coach and Best behaved team and others .
Stakeholders at the meeting includes; Representative of the Ministry of Youth Sports Development, Mrs Hellen Lebi, Ondo State Football Association (FA) was represented by Director of Sports Ondo State Police Command, Mr Henry Akingboju , Chairman Referee Council, while Dr Babatunde Akinbinu represents medical
Earlier ,the General Manager of Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Henry Omoyele Babatunde has promised to support and work with the organisers to engage the youths meaningfully.
He said “the Obas’ Cup will enable the state to discover talents that can represent the state and the country in future”.
