Stakeholders task lawmakers on life-impacting laws

The newly inaugurated members of Ondo State House of Assembly have been charged to serve with conscience and ensure passage of quality bills for the overall development of the state.

Stakeholders who spoke in separate interviews with The Hope gave the charge in Akure, the state capital.

A former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kenneth Olawale affirmed that the legislature is a very important arm of government hence the need for them to be proactive and represent their constituencies and the state well.

He advised them to work as a team without looking at political party’s disparity, so as to move the state to an enviable height.

Also, the Senator-elect for Ondo Central, Sen. Ayo Akinyelure averred that unity among the honourable members is key to achieving tremendous success in the 9th assembly.

Akinyelure who said that the people of the state are expecting them to make life -impacting laws that will favour the downtrodden urged them to run an open door policy and be upright as they discharge their duties.

On his own, a former Majority Leader of ODHA, Hon. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu advised the new lawmakers not to be disconnected with their constituencies , learn to give to the needy and discharge their duties efficiently.

He harped on the need for them to pursue what they believe in as much as it is for the betterment of the society and never be discouraged.

The Akure Anglican Bishop. Rt. Revd. Simeon Oluwole Borokinni noted that cooperation of the lawmakers is very important to all inclusive legislation.

The Bishop enjoined them to put God first in everything and be good ambassadors of their constituencies. He prayed for divine guidance and protection for them as they discharge their legislative business.
