Ondo state government has warned buyers and sellers of federal government land situated in Igodanlisa in Okitipupa Local Government area  of the state to desist from the act.

The land has been earmarked for development for an aerodrome since 1975 and it has been approved to be developed to an airport

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Tobi Ogunleye made this known while on an inspection visit to the site upon upgrading of the aerodrome to a full full fledge airport by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Ogunleye said the Federal Government through the National Council on Transportation said that the state government should set up a technical committee to interface with the  Federal Government technical committee towards the development of the airport

At meeting with the chiefs and  indigenes of the town, Ogunleye said the land has greatly been encroached.

He implored  them to stop the encroachment  as the Federal Government will commence work any moment on the site.

He advised the public to always verify the authenticity of a land from the appropriate quarters before making any payment

Earlier, the director in charge of the project, (Dr) Pius Omoge opined that the airport will bring  development to Ondo state and the South West at large

He appealed for mutual cooperation between the host community of Igodanlisa and the technical committees that will be involved in the development of the airport project in the state

Responding, the representative of the community, Sir Wumi Akinmoju said the aerodrome will be a blessing to them as it will bring massive development to their town. He mentioned that the community was ready to give more lands to the Federal Government for the project.
