Students in Osun state have been urged to imbibe good character which is the only way that can make them successful in life.

A House of Assembly member representing Ayedaade State Constituency, Mr Bayo Olodo gave the admonition during the grand finale of Federation Of Odeomu Students Union Quiz and Debating Competition held at Baptist Middle School, Odeomu in Ayedaade Local Government of the State.

He noted that the programme which was sponsored by him is a part of his commitments to developing young minds towards archiving their dreams.

While speaking on the theme of the event titled, “Poor Academic Performance of Student, Whose Fault? Parents or Teachers”, he enjoined parents to always check the excesses of their wards as teachers cannot do all.

Olodo said kids inherit any of their parent’s attitudes in which the teacher might find it difficult to correct as it is normal where he/she is coming from.

On his part, Mr. Abolarinwa Feruke, the Bursar, the University Of Osun State (UNIOSUN) who is also an indigene of the town said parents have an important role to play in the upbringing of their children.

He stressed that parents role in the lives of their children is 70 percent, while teachers role is 30 percent because it is not easy to monitor over 30 students behaviors at the same time.
