Ondo State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) has taken over Dayo Jegele Primary School Annex, Glory Land Community, Akure, from the community with the posting of six teachers to the school.

The school, with 113 pupils, was established in 2005 and had been the sole responsibility of the community, to pay for the rented apartment to house the pupils and the  payment of the salaries of the teachers.

Luck ran the way of the school late last year when the Education Secretary of Akure North Local Government, Mr Dayo Olowere visited the school and announced that government has  taken  over the school.

True to his words, six primary school teachers resumed along with the pupils at the beginning of academic work for this  second term, a development greeted by heightened enthusiasm among the pupils.

Olowere charged the teachers and management of the school not to collect arbitrary fee from the pupils and assured of government’s plan to make the environment conducive for learning.

Chairman of the Landlord Association of  the community, Mr Sunday Adeyemi appreciated the Ondo State Government for the gesture which he said will relieve the landlords of a huge burden.

He said the landlords in collaboration with the state government will ensure that the pupils move to the permanent site already bought by the community.
