SUBEB tasks agric teachers on practical

Public primary school teachers in Osun State have been urged to go into practical Agricultural teachings devoid of the usual theories while teaching the children in schools.
Executive Chairman, Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, Ajibola Famurewa gave the charge at a three-day training workshop programme in Osogbo.
The training workshop which was organized by Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, Abuja in collaboration with Osun Universal Basic Education Board is ongoing in the three Senatorial Districts of the state for agric teachers in public primary school.
The SUBEB boss noted that holistic practice of agriculture can improve the nation’s economy most especially at this moment when the country is facing serious economic challenges.
Famurewa said the present administration in the state under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is passionate about agriculture, stressing that introducing the school children into farming at a very tender age will serve as a veritable avenue to create job opportunities, thereby preparing them for other life-long agricultural practices.
He implored the participants who are all teachers to take the training program very serious.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, SUBEB, Mr Adeoye Bakare thanked the national umbrella body of the Commission, UBEC for its support over the years.
Bakare also lauded Governor Oyetola for ensuring that the training workshop became a reality.
He similarly enjoined the participants to wholeheartedly embrace and make judicious of the knowledge acquired at the training workshop with the theme “School To Farm”.
In their separate remarks, a UBEC Officer, Mallam Idris Oladipupo and Leader of the resource Persons, a lecturer from Kaduna State University, Dr Olaniyi Akeem noted the benefits of the training workshop with a declaration that it has the tendency of eradicating the global poverty and hunger currently facing humanity.
