SUBEB/UBEC opens bid for 2021/2022 action plan

In its effort to further ensure quality education across all levels, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC yesterday opened the 2021/2022 action plan.

The event held yesterday within the premises of the office of the State Universal Basic Education Board had in attendance the SUBEB chairman, Mr Victor Olabimtan, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Dele Akinagbe, a commissioner, Saka Yusuf Ogunleye.

Others include, the Chairman, Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Tolu Adegbie represented by Mr Williams Rotimi, the State Coordinator Universal Basic Education Commission, Mrs Bukola Adams represented by Mr Adedeji Peter and representatives of various professional bodies.

The Board Chairman, Victor Olabimtan appreciated the State Governor for prioritizing education,  stressing that laudable feat in the education sector would not have been possible without him.

“He has successfully built and renovated 900 primary schools in Ondo State, supplied thousands of chairs and lockers to mention just a few.

“Aside from infrastructure, the Governor has also done series of promotions, he has promoted teachers to level 16.

“The 146 bids that will be opened today will add more to the infrastructure of primary schools in Ondo State. The construction of what is known as ‘jelesimi’ has also been created.”

Olabimtan urged the contractors that will be awarded the contracts to deliver quality jobs, noting that their selection would be done with open policy.

“The bids will be opened today and those who are qualified will be contacted. It will be an open policy. I want to appeal to the various contractors that will do this job to do a quality job. The bidding for today is open and transparent and those who are qualified will be notified.

Earlier, Olabimtan called on teachers in the state to acquire digital skills so as to be able to meet up with the demands of the 21st century and also to take advantage of the board’s partnership with technological companies in bringing an improvement to their skills.

“Very soon, no one will be able to do anything without the use of computer. SUBEB will be partnering with relevant technological companies to better improve the ICT skills of teachers”, he said.
