The Catholic Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Most Reverend Dr John Akin Oyejola has cautioned political leaders not to allow innocent Nigerians suffer from the effect of removal of subsidy
The Bishop who said N5b palliatives allocated to States will not cushion the effects as many Nigerians can hardly eat one square meal in a day, hinted that the only panacea is for leaders to be sincere and allow justice prevail in the land .
The Chief Shepherd of the Diocese said true Justice, fairness and truthfulness are the yardsticks for peace and development.
He spoke while admonishing the church worshippers of St Benedict Catholic Cathedral.
“Why are poor and innocent Nigerians paying for the effect of subsidy removal which few individuals caused? It is only justice that will bring peace and development to our land
” I encourage and enjoin you all not to be discouraged from what is presently happening as God is still in control. I know by the grace of God Nigeria will be a great country. We must all continue to pray, trusting God that all will be well in this country “, he stated.
How far can N5b to states go? I saw what a particular state distributed to their people; I wonder how far such a small bag of rice will go for a family.
“Our leaders are buying exotic cars going out with array of vehicles in their entourage, their children living in better houses .There cannot be peace without justice. Husband, be just to your wife and children because that is the only way peace, progress and development can be assured.
