The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State has said that the successful conduct of its national convention was a shock to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It said the success of the convention led the PDP to come up with narrative to embarrass the convention.
The State Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Mr. Steve Otaloro, stated this while commenting on the convention which he described as a credible exercise.
Recall that the PDP accused the ruling APC) of not being ready to fight corruption following the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the party.
According to the PDP, the convention that produced Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa, as the national chairman of the APC was a “jamboree of lies.”
The APC in the State lambasted the PDP for expecting division within the party after the convention, adding that the opposition was jittery over the calibre of party members made up the National Working Committee of the APC.
His words: “We were able to come up with consensus candidate without crisis. That is the reason they (PDP members) came out with new narrative that most of the national executives are former PDP members.
“The new National Secretary of our party, Iyiola Omisore is a progressives who we know his antecedents as AD member.
“For Adamu to contest under APC as senator and won he should be regarded as progressives.
“They are progressives and they will remain progressives because they key into party politics. There are no core or founding members inasmuch as the constitution guarantees them as members of the party.”
