Summer Tennis Clinic has come to stay -Mrs. Akeredolu

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has revealed that the successful conduct of this year’s Summer Tennis Clinic was an indication that the programme will continue after the tenure of the present administration.
She made this known at the Akure recreational Club Tennis Court, during the closing ceremony of this year’s Summer Tennis Clinic, the fourth edition. A total number of 250 kids were trained for five days on the rudiments of playing lawn tennis aimed at discovering talents for future champions.
Mrs. Akeredolu who commended the management team for a job well done said,”I am so delighted that this year’s programme was successful without much efforts from me.
“This indicates that at the end of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s tenure, Summer Tennis Clinic will continue. It is an indication that Ondo State Summer Tennis Clinic has come to stay. Next year, I will be coming as a guest because I have capable hands for the programme.
“I am calling on parents whose children participated in the event to support them in order to build on the skills learnt.”
The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, while thanking Mrs. Akeredolu for initiating the programme added that she has good thought towards the State. He also thanked the management team for making this year’s event a huge success.
He said,”I want to thank the Ondo State First Lady for this laudable programme and for her many impactful programmes especially for girls and women. The First Lady is exposing our kids to the world of tennis to discover future talents.
We need another Nduka Ugbade and I am sure that we are on the right track. I want to appreciate the parents for attending and appeal for your continuous support because tennis requires continuous engagement. I will also thank the coaches for their patience at training the kids, you have all done well because it is not easy to handle children.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Summer Tennis Clinic closing ceremony, Elder Teni Faromoju, commended Mrs. Anyanwu-Akeredolu for coming up with different programmes like BRECAN, BEMORE, FOWOSO, Junior Tennis Clinic among others which he observed have been of tremendous benefits to the people of the State and urged the parents of the participants to give them needed support to excel.
His words:” I want to commend the vision of the First Lady regarding this tennis sport to discover future champions. Parents of the participants should also take steps beyond this gathering to encourage these young ones at actualizing their dreams. Continuous practicing will enable them to perfect their skills to fulfill their dreams of becoming future Serena Williams.”
