Despite the winning over Ibom Angels of Uyo in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) we will still go back and work on some areas that needed some amendments in the team, says Sunshine Queens first assistant coach, Niyi John.
Coach John praised his players in his post match interview with newsmen for holding on to the one goal lead, saying the team will come out more stronger in subsequent match.
He said it was not easy to get three points and would continue to work on the team for improved results.
The Betty Babes had midweek defeated Ibom Angels of Uyo in the match day six of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) premiership match.
The match played at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure could produce only a goal in the encounter.
The only goal of the match had to come from Sunshine Queens midfielder, Mercy Idoko’s fine lob from outside the area in the 23rd minute of the encounter.
In the 33rd minute of the match, the visitors’ goalkeeper had to be at alert to save another fine lob from Sunshine Queens forward, Seun Fakunle for the match to end 1-0 into the half.
Both teams had to make changes for different aims in the second half, but the match ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
Meanwhile, Ibom Angels Coach, Morufu Adeyemo said the match has been played and won, we go back home and work on our team’s deficiency ahead of their next match.
Adeyemo said the home side were fully prepared for the fixture and was disappointed not to pick a point in Akure.
“We are not where I want us to be yet, I will work on the team, especially the area we are deficient in,” he said.
Sunshine Queens now have 10 points from six matches and will visit osogbo next to play Osun Babes on match day seven.
