Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure have expressed sympathy to the management of Heartland FC and the entire people of Imo State over the sudden death of Head Coach Christian Obi in an automobile accident.

President of Sunshine Stars FC, Bamidele Ologunloluwa in a statement condoled with the immediate family of Obi and wished other injured players and officials speedy recovery.

The Sunshine Stars boss also prayed God to grant the family, management and the entire people of Imo the strength to bear the irreparable loss of their son.

“It is difficult to accept the loss of the former Olympic Eagles goalkeeper with equanimity under this circumstance but we urge his loved ones to take solace in the fact that God giveth and taketh as we have no power to question Him for calling Christian Obi at a period he is needed most.

“We also pray for God’s protection over his immediate family, players and officials of the team.

“There is no doubt that the Nigerian football fraternity has lost one of their own; to this end, we all must have to take heart and be fervent in prayers for the family coach Obi left behind.”

The Owerri based side lost their Head Coach in a fatal accident on their way to Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital to participate in a pre-season tournament.
