Sunshine Stars declare Salisu, Obiazor AWOL

Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure has declared Seidu Salisu and David Obiazor absent without leave (AWOL) for failing to report back to the team after the New Year break.

In a statement released by the club’s media officer, Femi Atolagbe, it was disclosed that both players have not resumed training, despite being expected to rejoin their teammates several days ago. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad is currently training in Ikenne, Ogun State, in preparation for the second phase of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The club cautioned other football clubs and agents against engaging with Salisu and Obiazor for any transfer dealings without its official approval. Sunshine Stars further emphasised that the players remain under contract with the club and warned that any attempt to illegally secure their services would result in legal action.

The club also notified the NPFL of the players’ contractual status, stressing its commitment to ensuring due process in all transfer-related matters.
